Medical Conditions

Shingles

Shingles is a medical condition characterized by a painful cluster of rashes of blisters along a particular nerve path. Shingles resembles chickenpox except that shingles is often limited to a specific area along the affected nerve path. Shingles symptoms may include burning skin with blister accompanied by a mild fever. As shingles is a viral medical condition, shingles treatment most often consists of the prescription of pain relief medicine and antiviral medications to combat the viral infection. Antibiotic medications are not often used to treat shingles, as antibiotics are used to treat bacterial infections not viral infections. For both women’s and child health while pregnant, the shingles herpes zoster infectious disease should be avoided during times of pregnancy to prevent womens health issues while carrying developing offspring.
