Chickenpox
- Chickenpox, also known as varicella, is a commonly encountered childhood disease. Chickenpox disease is caused by the herpes varicella zoster virus, the same virus responsible for shingles. Chickenpox symptoms include a rash on the face and body accompanied by a low grade fever. Chickenpox is spread by airborne droplets and is considered a very contagious infectious disease. In most cases, rest is all that is required for chickenpox treatment and most patients recover with ten days.
